The artist
I work in abstract painting, developing a practice grounded in material, layering and the search for a balance between construction and erasure.
Self-taught, I work mainly in acrylic on large-scale canvases.
My current work explores abstract spaces where light, material and depth become the painting's main subjects.
Approach
I work with abstraction as a space for inquiry.
My paintings are built up in successive layers: material, glazes, erasures, reworkings and transparencies.
Rather than constructing an image, I seek to bring forth a space, a depth, a tension between what reveals itself and what remains buried.
